That’s why we are so proud of Brittney Cares, a foundation that aims to give back and help those who need it most. Recently, we had the privilege of supporting a young man who is facing incredible challenges with unwavering strength and determination: Kaden Smith.
Kaden's Journey: A Story of Strength and Resilience
Kaden is the oldest son of Kara and Rocky Smith, the owners of Rock Solid Inspections here in Lake Oconee. His story is one of pain, perseverance, and hope. Three years ago, Kaden suffered a serious knee injury when he dislocated his left knee and broke his patella. What was supposed to be a simple surgery turned into a series of four surgeries over the next two and a half years. The physical pain was only the beginning of his struggles.
Due to the extreme and ongoing pain, Kaden developed Functional Neurological Disorder (FND), a condition that affects his nervous system and causes his left leg to have involuntary movements, nonstop spasms, cramping, and hypersensitivity to touch. He also experiences numbness in his thigh, foot, and toe. A recent QEEG brain map revealed that Kaden's brain was functioning like someone with a traumatic brain injury.
Despite these overwhelming challenges, Kaden has remained determined to heal. His ultimate goal is to regain control of his body so that he can return to his daily activities, including school, work, and—most importantly—fishing, a passion he’s not willing to let go of.
Brittney Cares Steps In to Help
At Brittney Cares, we believe in supporting those who need it most, and we couldn't let Kaden's journey go unnoticed. Today, we had the honor of donating $2,000 to help Kaden continue his treatments and make progress on his road to recovery. Kaden’s treatment plan includes neurofeedback sessions twice a day, weekly chiropractic adjustments, craniosacral therapy, and physical therapy. After three weeks of these treatments, he is finally beginning to see improvements, with more good days (days without episodes) than bad.
We are deeply inspired by Kaden’s strength and positivity throughout this difficult journey. His determination is a reminder to us all of the importance of community support and the power of a caring heart.
