Food insecurity can affect every part of a child’s life, from their ability to focus in the classroom to their overall health and well-being. While school meal programs provide important support during the week, weekends and school breaks can leave some children without access to dependable, nutritious meals.
To help address this need, Brittney Cares donated $1,000 to support the Greene County Food Pantry Backpack Program.
Providing Food When School Is Closed
The Backpack Program helps ensure that children experiencing food insecurity have nutritious, easy-to-prepare food to take home when school cafeterias are closed. These food packages help bridge the gap between school meals so children can return to the classroom ready to learn.
The program is part of the broader effort to fight hunger in Greene County. The Greene County Food Pantry has served local families, seniors, and children since 2007. More than 60 percent of the individuals receiving assistance through the pantry are children or seniors.
For families experiencing financial hardship, dependable access to food can provide both immediate relief and greater peace of mind. It allows parents and caregivers to focus on other essential needs while knowing their children will have food available throughout the weekend.
A $1,000 Donation to Help Feed Local Children
Brittney Cares is honored to contribute $1,000 to this important program. The donation will help provide child-friendly food that can be easily prepared and enjoyed at home.
Every backpack represents more than a collection of meals. It represents comfort, stability, and the reassurance that a child has not been forgotten.
Supporting children today is also an investment in the future of our community. When children have the nutrition they need, they are better prepared to learn, grow, and reach their full potential.
