Friday, December 2nd Downtown Greensboro’s Lighting of the Tree
Join the Christmas fun for Downtown Greensboro’s lighting of the tree on the Courthouse lawn. You can hang out with SANTA, ride an old-fashioned hay ride, eat lots of yummy snacks, and listen holiday music! This event is FREE to attend and the “official tree lighting” will occur after 6 p.m.
Friday & Saturday, December 2nd-3rd Holiday Tour of Homes in Madison
Experience the rich culture of Madison and some Christmas joy at the Holiday Tour of Homes in Madison. This is an excellent tour that showcases some of the beautiful historic homes, churches, and other buildings throughout Madison. There are day tours or candlelight tours on both days. If you purchase tickets on or before November 30th tickets are $27/tour or $45 for both day and night tours. After November 30th, tickets are $32/tour or $55 for both. On both Friday and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. you can view over 2 dozen locally owned antique and modern quilts. Saturday, December 3rd “Cruise-N-Strut” at Memory Lane Classic Car Museum
The Memory Lane & Lake Oconee Elks hosts the second annual Cruise-N-Strut on Saturday, December 3rd from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. This event is free, but if you would like to go inside the museum it’s a $5 admission. Classic car owners will bring their cars to this event to show them off. Event goers can check out all the cool cars, stay for the parade, participate in the auctions and enjoy good food. There will be a silent auction that closes at noon and a live auction that starts at 1pm. The “strut” begins at 2 p.m. and a parade will be held afterwards. Proceeds will go toward local Christmas Stocking Funds and food banks in the area. The Memory Lane Classic Car museum is located at 170 Scott Rd. Eatonton, GA 31024. Sunday, December 4th Christmas on the Avenue at The Plaza Arts Center
The Plaza Arts Center will be having Two Cantata performances on Sunday, December 4th. The first performance will begin at 4:00 p.m. and the second performance starts at 6:30 p.m. After the second performance, there will be a reception and the community is invited to attend. Sunday, December 4th Christmas Cantata at Greensboro First United Methodist Church
The Greensboro First United Methodist Church is proud to welcome Joel Raney to their church for their 2016 Christmas Cantata, “A Thrill of Hope”. The performance starts at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday and is FREE to the public. This a very popular event in the community, so be sure to come early to get a good seat! Friday, December 9th Christmas Movie in the Briar Patch
Take the family to downtown Eatonton to get in the Christmas spirit by watching a movie on the Courthouse lawn. Starting at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, December 9th the movie, “The Polar Express”, will be playing on a projected screen. This is a FREE event. Saturday, December 10th Parade & Caroling by Candlelight in Madison
Downtown Madison will be hosting a Christmas parade with a “Storybook Christmas” theme. The parade starts at 4:00 p.m. Afterwards, the Caroling by Candlelight event will be in Town Park with music by local choral groups, bands, and musicians. Both Mr. & Mrs. Claus will be at the event along with their elves for pictures and Christmas wishes. Hot chocolate and roasted marshmallows will be available! Saturday, December 10th Christmas in the Briar Patch at the Putnam County Courthouse Lawn
From 2:00 p.m. to 7:00p.m. there will be an arts and crafts bazaar in the Putnam County Courthouse square. At 6:00 p.m. the Christmas parade begins and features lighted floats that will travel down the main streets of Eatonton. Saturday, December 10th Christmas at Stepback Annual Open House in Eatonton
Visit Step-back, an area with numerous historic buildings and artifacts dedicated to inspire those who come to visit. With a general store, mill house, old school house, church, and various other buildings you won’t want to miss seeing what Step-back has to offer. Ashley Belle Landings is hosting a Pancakes with Santa late breakfast. The breakfast starts at 10:00 a.m. and includes Prancer’s Pancakes served with eggs, fresh orange juice, Christmas cookie decorating, and pictures with Santa (must purchase pictures). You will also be able to access Santa’s Secret Shop, a shop specially designed for kids to purchase gifts for their family and friends. Most of the items in Santa’s Secret Shop are $10 or under.
