Kim and Lin Logan Team Host Annual Dog Wash for Humane Society

Kim and Lin Logan Team Host Annual Dog Wash for Humane Society

We’ve done several dog washes in the past, so I guess you can say we now have an “annual” dog wash – which is great, because the more we can help out the community, the better! This years dog wash was located in our parking lot and we had a great turn out. Last year, we raised $600 and this year our goal was to raise more than $600. We certainly accomplished our goal, raising over $800! Next year, we are setting a goal of $1,000. We honestly have the best community here at Lake Oconee. Many of the donations we received were from people eating at Cafe 44 or just passing by.

No Donation is a Small Donation

Our donation to the Humane Society is enough to feed all the dogs in the program for 3 months or all of the cats for 3 months. It could be used to give 16 different rescued animals their vaccinations. It could be used to neuter 8 different animals of low income families and so much more. Every bit counts, so when you think you make a small donation – you aren’t. You’re helping contribute to the welfare of these animals, whether it be helping them find a home or making sure they are healthy. The Oconee Regional Humane Society needs your help too! Even if you are unable to give donations in the form of money, they always need extra towels and blankets as well as your time! View more things that the Oconee Regional Humane Society needs by visiting their website at here.

One way you can help and have fun while doing it is to attend the Pirates of Oconee Poker Run. The poker run is a charity fundraiser that benefits the Oconee Regional Humane Society. This event will take place on August 12th. It starts at 10AM and ends at 3PM. There will even be an after party at 6PM. For more information on this event you can all (404) 281-3579 or email [email protected].

Pet Wants From Madison Came to Help Us

The coolest part (besides all the money we raised) about this years dog wash was Pet Wants from Madison coming out to support us, our goal and the Humane Society. Pet Wants is a chain store that provides fresh, all natural pet food, made locally. Not only do they make their own pet food, but they also make their own sprays and salves that can be used for everything from skin sensitivities to anxiety relief. Pet Wants in Madison is owned by Bob & Susan Scherer, one of the nicest couples you will ever meet.

You can tell by speaking with them for just a few minutes how passionate they are about animals and how much they care about their business. Bob and Susan came to our dog wash and provided all of our shampoos to wash the dogs with: these really neat bars of soap as well as a liquid soap, all made with non-harming ingredients and essential oils. They also provided free samples of their dog and cat food as well as skin spray, calm balm and paw wax. Tank loved the skin spray which is excellent for dogs who have skin allergies. We (especially Tank and Charleston) would recommend Pet Wants to anyone wanting a more natural pet food. They are moving to their new location in a few days – located in the shopping center right across from Ingles in Madison at 1400 Eatonton Rd. Suite 600. For more information or to order your own sample of their food, visit them online at here.
