Lake Oconee’s Equestrian Neighborhood : Waters Edge Subdivision

Lake Oconee’s Equestrian Neighborhood : Waters Edge Subdivision

The team at Kim and Lin Logan Real Estate are pet people. We love animals, and a few of us have horses now or have had them in the past. We often see and share memes on Facebook about horses – you’ve seen them, I’m sure. Most of them go this way:

I’m not going to sugarcoat it – horses are a serious financial and time commitment, but for many of us, they’re a part of our lives without which we absolutely cannot live. Many folks go to a therapist so soothe their souls; horse people go to the barn. The beauty, grace and strength of the horse is incomparable, and something about the way they smell when you bury your face in their necks can make even the worst of your troubles melt away.

One of the most heart-stopping phone calls you can get is from a panicked neighbor saying your horses have escaped their paddocks. Some horses are indeed talented escape artists, but often it’s a forgetful human who unintentionally leaves your gates open or unlocked. These watchful, intelligent critters will mosey right off your property in the blink of an eye. You can imagine how nerve-wracking it can be, speeding home to wrangle your animals and get them back where they belong – if you can find them.

Most horse properties don’t exist inside a fenced community, and that makes a subdivision like Putnam County’s Waters Edge, a rare and wonderful place. If you horses do get out, you know they can only roam as far as the community fence boundaries will allow. Lot sizes are generous, and the community is nothing less than gorgeous. Residents take advantage of the miles of horse-riding trails that wind through the subdivision and the natural wooded landscape, as well as the beautiful stables which grace the entrance to the community. Homes and lots of folks who don’t partake of the equestrian activities are situated along the shores of Lake Oconee – you don’t have to be a horse owner to live in Water’s Edge, but if you are, you want to be here.

Pick out your lot – or your next home – and give us a call. We’ll tell you all about it.
