Fall is officially in the air at Lake Oconee. The unseasonably warm weather has kept the lake and golf courses busy, meaning there’s still plenty of fun in the sun here around Georgia’s lake country.
Here are the top events in the area for the remainder of October.
October 12: Oconee Paddle Championship
The Oconee Paddle Championship is a race benefiting the surfrider foundation in Georgia, which protects the enjoyment of oceans, waves, and beaches. The race features an awards ceremony and after-party at the Ritz Carlton with lunch and beer.
The event runs from 8:00 am-1:30 pm EST at the Ritz Carlton Lake Oconee.
October 18th-19th Eric Dodd
Lake country native and current Nashville Country Music singer comes home for a two night special at the Ritz Carlton Lake Oconee. Dodd will be performing live from 9:00 am-11:00 am both Friday and Saturday night.
October 18th Moonlight and Motown, 2019
Moonlight and Motown takes place inside Harbor Club as a benefit from the Pete Nance Boys and Girls Club of Lake Oconee. This annual event features a silent auction, full-service bar, and private dinner. Tickets are $95, and the cocktail reception begins at 7:00 pm EST.
October 26:Downtown Chili Cook-off and Fall Festival in Madison, GA
The 15th annual Chili cookoff begins at with live music at 10:00 am and chili sampling running from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm. The event runs from 10:00 am -4:00 pm and brings regional venders to historic downtown Madison.

October 26: Rhythm and Brews Festival
Hosted at Historic Creek Barn, Rhythm and Brews is put on Reynolds Lake Oconee, The Oconee Performing Arts Society (OPAS), and with additional support from Visit lake Oconee. This year’s lineup features Scott Stapp (lead singer of Creed), Jason Scheff (head vocalist of Chicago), Matt Schannel (Vertical Horizon), Don Barnes (.38 Special), Emerson Hart (Tonic), and Sixwire. The event features craft beer, wine, and food trucks and begins at 5:30 pm at the Historic Sandy Creek Barn. This is a 21 and older event.
October 26: Fall Fest and Spooky Wagon Rides at hard Labor Creek
If you’re looking for family fun to kick off the Halloween celebration, look no further than the fall festival and Spooky Wagon rides at Hard Labor Creek State Park. This is a cash-only event with gates opening at 5:30 pm and closing at 8:00 pm with pumpkin decorating, marshmallow roasts, games, food, and wagon rides. Rides depart every 30 minutes.
